However, the Lenovo S880 was the first phone available for $200 that came with a spacious 5 inch screen. While Lenovo was  not the first to tease the Indonesian market with cheaper alternatives to Samsung’s popular Galaxy Note, they were the first to accompany their offerings with widely available accessories.

Thus, the P770 easily had one of the longest lasting battery life available on the Indonesian market at the time. There was also a smaller screened version sibling of the S890, the 4.7 inch S820. At launch, the S890 was sold for about $270 while the P770 and S820 was offered at around $240. An increase from the previous models but still cheaper than the Galaxy Grand. Lenovo had an edge over the Grand though, these phones had qHD resolution while Samsung’s was still stuck with WVGA. Thus, in terms of specs, Samsung’s entry was outclassed by Lenovo’s cheaper alternatives.

The phone was so popular that even from September to November 2012, many retailers carrying the phone had waiting lists for people who wanted to get one.The Indonesian equivalent of Craigslist, Kaskus, was full of entrepreneurial users offering the phone at marked up price tags. It was an unprecedented feat for a Chinese made device, especially one that had only been on the market for a few weeks..

So, carrying on with our look at some of the tablets on the market this year we have the Lenovo IdeaTab A3000. The A3000 is a budget tablet that will compete in this years tablet frenzy on the run up to Christmas. It may be budget priced but it has been on the market for a while so is the A3000 a tablet that can hold its own in the 7-inch tablet arena? We have a quick look.

It did all of these fairly well but was too heavy in tablet mode, as I reported in my review at the time.

Currently, the test measures total cholesterol. The Erickson lab is working to break out those numbers in LDL ("bad" cholesterol), HDL ("good" cholesterol) and triglyceride measurements. The lab is also working on detecting vitamin D levels, and has previously demonstrated smartphone tests for periodontitis and sweat electrolyte levels.

A variety of studies over the past year have confirmed that moms, really, really like smartphones. Estimates range, but we can safely say that between 50 and 90% of moms of young children have smartphones. And they spend a significantly longer amount of time on their phones using apps and visiting websites than non-moms.

But what they are not doing is shopping. In fact, most Lenovo K900 16gb smartphones users aren’t.New data from the 2013 Black Friday shopping period- which now runs from Thanksgiving Day through the following Tuesday, shows that online sales were up an average of 20% during the period. Mobile traffic also exploded, with traffic from tablets and smartphones up over 30% on Black Friday.

But, let’s dig a little deeper. First, the definition of mobile traffic, which I have complained about here and here, includes both smartphones, which are mobile, and tablets which often are not and certainly not often at point of sale, in the store.

In fact, smartphones contributed a paltry 7% of all online sales this year, while tablets doubled that number. The majority of online sales came from laptop and desktop computers this year.  We can expect tablets to increase their share of online sales next year, but perhaps not as much as one might expect because of a technology issue that impacts both tablets and smartphones and explains why exactly I chose to headline this article, “The Big Opportunity With Smartphone Moms – Branding Not Shopping.”

Currently, most mobile shopping is done from Apple devices; yup, those mobile sale numbers are mostly from iOS.  More expensive, more often used by the tech savvy, they are often just better aligned with online shopping. However, the explosion in tablets and smartphones is in the Android, Windows and other, cheaper, less robust technologies.  But … even with an iPhone, shopping just isn’t that easy or fun.

So moms shop from the comfort of their homes on Lenovo A820 phone their laptops and compare prices, get ideas and share product pics on Instagram, Facebook and other social sites from their phones. Since moms spend much more time with their phones than they do with their computers, for most companies, a mobile strategy should focus on awareness, increasing usage and branding, not shopping.
